Level 5 water restrictions continue to be enforced for Daylight custom

Published on 29 November 2022

Goldenfields Water County Council advises customers that the level 5 water restrictions which came into effect on the 22nd November 2022 will continue to be imposed for all customers located on the Daylight scheme (including Tallimba, Weethalle, Naradhan and surrounding areas) for the foreseeable future.

Goldenfields staff are attempting to access the site tomorrow to assess the status of the bores and attempt to restore water supply for the Daylight scheme. However, given the bore’s infrastructure is currently 1 metre under water and the site is 10 kilometres from the nearest accessible road, restoring water supply to the scheme is not definite.

General Manager for Goldenfields Water, Mr Aaron Drenovski is strongly advising all customers to adhere to the level 5 restrictions, as water carting to the scheme’s critical reservoirs is struggling to meet the demands.

“At the current time, we have a handful of customers not adhering to the level 5 restrictions. Our data shows their usage is well over the 100 litres/per person/per day. Staff are currently installing restrictors on rural water metres, commencing with the highest users first.

It is vital that all customers, both rural and urban significantly minimise their water use until we can determine a clearer timeframe of getting the scheme’s water supply back up and running.”

Currently the scheme’s reservoir levels are at 50% capacity, once they drop to 30% capacity the scheme’s water supply will be isolated to the townships only.

With warm temperatures predicted for the weekend, Goldenfields Water can’t stress enough the importance of every customer following the level 5 water restrictions.

Rural customers are advised to move stock to paddocks with dams, if possible, and if the water supply does need to be isolated to the townships, they will need to commence water carting.

Rural customers can access standpipes by contacting the below agents in the following towns:

• Barellan, Yapunyah Street, contact Mr P Findlay on 6963 9246

• Ungarie, Wollongough Street, contact Martin & Kim Cattle on 6975 9643 / 0428 997 540

Alternatively, Goldenfields Water has three quick fill standpipes located at West Wyalong, Barmedman and Ardlethan. To access these stations customers will need to create accounts and collect a key from the Goldenfields Water office located at 84 Parkes St Temora.
