After 17 years of service on the Goldenfields Water County Council Board, including being Chairperson of the Board since 2017, Mr Dennis Palmer has made the decision to retire from Local Government, by not standing for re-election to Cootamundra Gundagai Regional Council.

“This has been an extremely difficult decision to reach” stated Mr Palmer at the October Board meeting. He continued “reality is that after serving as a Councillor for 21 years, a Goldenfields Board member for 17 years, with the privilege of serving as Chairperson of the Board, the time has come to retire from Local Government, and concentrate on my time with my family, my business and my farm.”

During his lengthy time serving on the Goldenfields Water Board, Mr Palmer was a part of many significant projects including The Mandamah Rural Water Supply Scheme, an enormous undertaking that expanded the network by an additional 180km, providing new connections for rural customers. Another significant project saw the development and implementation of the electronic metering system delivered across the entire Goldenfields network, soon followed by the Goldenfields Water App, the first of its kind for a water utility.

Mr Palmer stated, “these are just a few of the projects that Goldenfields has undertaken during my time on the Board, all of which have been in the pursuit of delivering a quality, affordable and sustainable water supply to all customers.”

General Manager of Goldenfields Water Mr Aaron Drenovski thanked Mr Palmer for his service at a recent dinner for all outgoing board members, “Dennis, thank you for your service to Goldenfields, your steadying influence has been critical to the success of Goldenfields.”

Goldenfields Water will see the induction of a new board in January 2022 after all council elections have been held, with the first meeting of the board to be held on the 27th of January 2022.
