Mandamah Rural Water Supply Scheme

The Mandamah Rural Supply Scheme was completed ahead of schedule and under budget. 

The initial budget estimate for the project was at $10.9 million with completion programmed for July 2023. Over time, the budget was reduced to $7 million due to cost efficiencies with the final cost coming in at $6 million. The project was also finished ahead of schedule in December of 2021.

Overview

The Mandamah Rural Water Supply Scheme has expanded the region's water supply network by 180 kilometres to provide essential water services to farmers and residents across more than 90,000 hectares in the Mandamah region west of Barmedman.

Timing 

Construction of the Mandamah Rural Water Supply Scheme commenced in November 2017.

Delivered in 4 stages the project was completed in December 2021 over a year ahead of schedule.

Stage 1 was completed in July 2019 and in August 2019 the Minister for Water, Property and Housing Melinda Pavey, member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke and the Mandamah Water Association officially opened Stage 1.

Construction of Stage 2 was completed in December 2020.  Stage 2 included:

  • 58,224 metres of mains
  • 19 new water connections

Construction of Stage 3 was completed in August 2021. Stage 3 included:

  • 45,000 metres of mains
  • 15 new water connections

Construction of Stage 4 was completed in December 2021. Stage 3 included:

  • 13,400 metres of mains
  • 4 new water connections 

Reservoir construction 

Six month timelapse of the reservoir construction. The reservoirs are located approximately 15km west of Barmedman on the Wargin Trig Access Road.
