Goldenfields Waters’ Blake Hingerty has been awarded the 2020 Regional Apprentice of the Year.

Blake has been employed as an apprentice Fitter Machinist at Goldenfields Water since 2016, proving his commitment and skill during this time. Blake noted that he chose the industry due to the diversity of fitting and machining applications and because no day is ever the same.

This is the second major award for Blake in the last 12 months, after being awarded the Bronze medal in his field at the World Skills Australia competition in 2019.

Blake’s supervisor Shane Baldry praised his efforts during his time as an apprentice; “I’ve been impressed with the effort Blake has put into every aspect of his apprenticeship. His enthusiasm toward work and his ability to learn new skills from the knowledgeable tradesman he works with has seen him excel in his trade”.

When accepting the award Blake especially thanked his mentors at Goldenfields Water, his teachers at TAFE, his parents and Training NSW for hosting the event.

He also spoke about what the award meant to him saying that it recognises all the hard work he has put in and the time and resources Goldenfields Water has spent to get him where he is today.

Goldenfields General Manager Aaron Drenovski applauded Blake’s efforts; ‘’We couldn’t be more proud of Blake’s achievements, and we look forward to continuing to support Blake to accomplish his career goals’’.

Blake will now go on to compete for the State Title against other regional winners for NSW.
