The unprecedented emergency situation confronting communities in southern NSW and the request to help conserve power supply across NSW has prompted Goldenfields Water to impose Level 1 Water Restrictions across the Councils extensive rural network, as of Thursday 9th January 2020.

Chairperson of Goldenfields Water County Council, Mr Dennis Palmer said, “all customers supplied with water by GWCC can be assured that we have ample water supplies to meet the future community and rural demands; however, it is prudent that these restrictions be imposed whilst weather conditions remain unchanged.

Goldenfields Water does not take this decision lightly and recognises the outstanding commitment to water conservation already being displayed by our customers, which was evident via their support and immediate action from our recent Oura Water Supply incident,” continued Mr Palmer.

In October 2019, Goldenfields Water implemented their water saving measures across the entire scheme and have been closely monitoring data over the summer months. Water consumption across Goldenfields Water’s five water treatment systems still remain below the water allocation, however considering the current climate conditions and protection of vital infrastructure, it has been decided to impose level 1 water restrictions for all customers on the Goldenfields Water network.

Level 1 water restrictions include:

Domestic

• Garden and lawns watering – the use of fixed hoses, sprays and fixed sprinklers are prohibited between the hours of 10am – 5pm each day

• The use of hand held hoses is allowed

• No restrictions on swimming pools and spas

• Hosing of pavement/concrete prohibited during 10am – 5pm each day

• Washing of vehicles allowed

Public/Commercial

• Public gardens, sports grounds, nurseries watering - the use of fixed hoses, sprays and fixed sprinklers are prohibited between the hours of 10am – 5pm each day

• Crop spraying is allowed

• Water cartage is allowed

• Hosing of pavement/concrete prohibited during 10am – 5pm each day

• Washing of vehicles allowed

“Customer awareness of the need for water conservation and the introduction of state-of-the-art monitoring devices such as the Goldenfields Water app has allowed our customers a unique opportunity to monitor their own water usage in real time and make adjustments immediately.

We would again like to thank all of our customers for their already demonstrated commitment and support to responsible water conservation,” said Mr Palmer.
