Goldenfields Water conducted their August council meeting on Tuesday with tender reports, capital works progress updates, water production reports and the inclusion of the January – June 2021 Delivery Program Progress Report being tabled.

Goldenfields Water’s Operations Manager provided a progress update on the Mandamah Rural Water Supply Scheme, noting construction on stage 3 has recently been completed and staff have commenced construction works on the fourth and final stage of the project.

Stage 4 of the Mandamah scheme will include approximately eleven kilometres of pipeline and Council anticipates this to be completed by late December 2021. Currently, the project is set to be achieved six months ahead of schedule and under budget. With the construction work being completed internally, this has resulted in an approximate financial benefit of $490,000 to the local economy each year, since the project’s inception in November 2017.

Council’s management submitted to the board the January – June 2021 Delivery Program Progress Report. This is a detailed report on Council’s progress towards achieving their strategic objectives and is completed every six months. Overall, progress in the nine strategic priority areas was consistently achieved, only minimal objectives relating to renewals and metering are still yet to be achieved due to reactive works taking precedence.

Water production across Council’s five schemes was still lower than average for the 2020/21 financial year, due to the above average rainfall and cooler temperatures. Goldenfields Water’s Production and Services Manager has indicated a slight recovery for the Jugiong scheme during April and May, where water production has aligned with similar demands in previous years. The Oura scheme which services approximately 14,600 customers in the Bland, Coolamon, Temora, Junee and Narrandera Shires saw a slight recovery from March to June where production aligned with similar demands from 2019/20.

Other agenda items from council’s August meeting included the confidential discussion for the supply of material for the Thanowring Road Trunk Main replacement tender, which is set to commence this financial year. The acquisition of easement for the Rosehill pipeline project, which is currently on track for completion in February 2022 and the design works for the Oura Treatment Plant’s reservoirs and roof mounted tray aeration design.

The Board concluded the meeting with establishing the new date for the October ordinary meeting to take place on Monday 25th October 2021.
