Goldenfields Water commenced work on the renewal of 40kms of pipeline along the Thanowring Road last week.

The high priority project, involves the replacement of ageing infrastructure from Temora to Ariah Park, known as the Thanowring Road Trunk Main.

The Thanowring Road pipeline currently supplies potable water to the towns of Ardlethan, Ariah Park, Mirrool, Beckom, Kamarah, Moombooldool, Barellan, Tara, Bectric, Rannock, and south to the Coolamon-Ardlethan Road.

This project highly benefits rural customers by providing improvements to water pressure, a decrease to supply interruptions, the ability to connect more rural customers and will assist in the growth of the local agricultural industry.

The Thanowring Road pipeline renewal will assist in the Stage 4 completion of the Mandamah Rural Water Supply Scheme project.

Last week, works commenced with contractors undertaking roadside vegetation removal. Of the 40kms of new pipeline, only an 850m corridor of vegetation was required for removal. This was completed in line with the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) and Environmental Management Plan developed for the project.

This week sees the start of ground works at Thanowring Road Pump Station with GWCC staff undertaking the task of excavating and installing new valves and pipework for the commencement of construction.

The current estimated completion date is December 2023.
