Thanowring Road Mains Renewal
Overview
Due to ageing infrastructure, Goldenfields Water will be renewing approximately 40 kilometres of mains on the Thanowring Road.
The renewal will begin near the Thanowring Road Pump Station located at the Goldfields Way and Thanowring Road crossing through to Quades Lane, west of Ariah Park.
The renewal will include:
- 30 kilometres of 250mm PVC Main to Ariah Park Pump Station
- 10 kilometres of 200mm PVS Main from Ariah Park Pump Station to Quades Lane
Timing
- Detailed designs were completed in January 2021 by Kellogg Brown Root
- Construction of groundworks at the Thanowring Road Pump Station commenced in early November 2021
- Project to be completed by December 2024 dependent on weather
Project Benefits
The project will highly benefits rural customers, providing:
- higher water pressure
- ability to connect more rural customers
- decrease in supply interruptions
- replacement of ageing infrastructure
Latest Works
- As of August 2023, the GWCC construction team have laid approximately 18 kilometres of pipeline along the Thanowring Road, putting them at the Old Wagga North Road.
- The winter months have been challenging for the construction team, with wet conditions making it difficult for staff to move machinery and lay pipeline.
- In July 2023, GWCC staff connected Stage 1 customers to the new pipeline. This included 20 connections.
- In late August 2023, the construction team completed the difficult task of laying the pipeline through Mirrool Creek, followed by an under-bore at Old Wagga Road.
